The Canadian Guide For Community Care And Support For Adults With Intellectual Disabilities 

Affected By Dementia


What: The Guide is designed using a stage-based approach to dementia with possible symptoms, actions steps and support options for each individual stage.


There is information and resources aimed specifically at program supports and content related to emerging issues. It is intended to guide planning, preparation for and the creation of dementia capable supports and services for adults with intellectual disabilities across Canada. 


This webinar is being held to provide interested adults with intellectual disabilities, family members and employees of organizations supporting adults aging with an intellectual disability (eg: DSWs, Supervisors, Long Term Care, Alzheimer’s Society, etc.) with an overview of this guide including: 

- Suggestions on how to use the guide 

- Overview of content of the guide & emerging issues 

- Overview of supplementary resources
